Making Proactive Precision Health More Accessible
Technology has transformed healthcare, but much of medicine still begins after disease appears. Genetics can help healthcare act earlier, focus more on prevention, and support more informed decisions.
Clinical guidelines from ACOG, USPSTF, ACMG, and NSGC use personal and family history, age of onset, ancestry, and other clinical features to identify people who may benefit from earlier counseling, testing, screening, or prevention. In hereditary cancer, for example, ACOG recommends risk assessment based on personal and family history, while USPSTF uses family-history-based risk assessment to identify people who may benefit from BRCA counseling and testing.
Despite its value, family health history is often not collected. When it is, it can remain incomplete, unstructured, and difficult to use in health records.
Access to genetic expertise is also limited. Even in California, one of the most medically resourced states, there are not enough genetics professionals to meet the needs of the population.
When genetic risk is missed, so are opportunities for earlier diagnosis, safer medication choices, appropriate testing, and better treatment decisions.

A Note From the Founder
I’ve spent most of my career studying human and medical genetics in clinics, labs, and biotech.
And one question has never left me:
Why isn’t proactive, personalized care the norm?
That gap is what led me to build Geniin.
Early in my career, I collected health histories from families affected by genetic disease. Again and again, I saw the same pattern: important clues were already there in the family, but they had not been captured, connected, or acted on. Some risks might have been recognized sooner. Some families might have received support earlier. Often, the right questions simply had not been asked.
